In Robin Ballard’s “Elements” series she explores ways to visually interpret chemical elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. “Summer” is a dramatic abstract painting with its torn surface, radiating circles, and neon colors. The background was created by use of a scraper so the overall impression is that of a textured surface. In contrast to the warm colors, green-grey circles appear to be floating across the canvas, adding to a sense of movement.…
The painting is framed by a thin line of orange paint, which extends along its sides, so it has a polished feel. It is also stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
