About this artwork
“Treasure Map” is part of the artist’s “Im-Material” series, which reflects on material and immaterial wealth. Robin Ballard began by building a texture of raised dots as an underpainting. She then painted over the dots in green, and using a resist technique, she covered the surface with a thin layer of gold acrylic paint. When this dried she began to see a unique shapes appear, which she painted in, using bright yellow. Going back to her textured…
underpainting she applied small dots of color, enhancing the feeling of water and movement. The painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
