About this artwork
The forest and its inhabitants were the inspiration for “Whispers”. The artist is a city dweller, but she does escape to nature once and a while. On her hikes she searches for a refuge, a place or path devoid of people and the hustle of everyday life. When beginning a hike the artist has a sense of solitude, but after a while she realizes that, the forest has sounds of its own. Birds chirp, the wind rustles tree branches overhead, or the distant…
rush of a stream as it flows down the mountain. In “Whispers”, three rose-colored forms emanate from a line of trees like a pulse, or echo reverberating outward toward the viewer. For the artist, these represent the subtle sounds of nature. This painting is part of the artist's “Habitat” series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals. The painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
