About this artwork
Mooloolaba is one of my favorite places to paint especially at the northern end with the view towards Alex.
I love the rocky shelves and the headland. It's just a stone's throw away from the main beach and esplanade but you feel like you are in another world. I have painted this view many times, and a number of times Plein air. Even took a group of artists there for a workshop a few times.
In this version I have removed the buildings you would… see as you look towards Alex and gave it more of an untouched by man feel which I like.

« I am inspired to capture the atmosphere, emotion, and feeling that creates a sense of place. Details of the landscape give way to broader brush strokes, bolder colors, and the interplay of lights and darks. »
The primary subject matter of Australian painter Rod Moore is the seascapes and landscapes of the Sunshine Coast and surrounding Hinterland. In 2011, he created and hosted a television show dedicated to plein air painting and founded the Moore Art School in order to teach beginner painters online. Moore lends his own contemporary style to impressionist landscapes and remains passionate about encouraging others in their artistic pursuits.
