About this artwork
This painting was inspired by a recent plein air painting trip I took to Mooloolaba beach. It was low tide exposing the rocky shelf. As I painted I watched storms rolling in. This painting is an interpretation of this scene.

« I am inspired to capture the atmosphere, emotion, and feeling that creates a sense of place. Details of the landscape give way to broader brush strokes, bolder colors, and the interplay of lights and darks. »
The primary subject matter of Australian painter Rod Moore is the seascapes and landscapes of the Sunshine Coast and surrounding Hinterland. In 2011, he created and hosted a television show dedicated to plein air painting and founded the Moore Art School in order to teach beginner painters online. Moore lends his own contemporary style to impressionist landscapes and remains passionate about encouraging others in their artistic pursuits.
