About this artwork
In this work, Roger M. deploys all the poetry and vivacity characteristic of his Little Characters series.
The painting features stylized figures with a naive yet deeply expressive gaze, characteristic of outsider and neo-expressive art. Writing becomes a fully-fledged plastic material.
Suspended on the canvas are the words of Tahar Ben Jelloun, calligraphed in watermark: "Friendship is a love where war and hatred are outlawed, where silence… is possible."
A warm, poetic and resolutely contemporary piece, where the freedom of the line dialogues with the depth of the text.

"Often, I have taken delightful journeys, embarked on a word." H. de Balzac
