In this oil on canvas painting, I explore the elusive beauty of the Okapi, often referred to as the "forest giraffe." The piece is characterized by bold, rhythmic brushstrokes that break down the animal's complex patterns into a vibrant mosaic of ochre, deep brown, and slate grey.
By contrasting the animal’s organic, striped textures against a minimalist, neutral background, I’ve aimed to capture its quiet and enigmatic presence. This work is part… of my ongoing study of rare wildlife, focusing on the intersection of natural form and contemporary impressionist technique. It is a tactile, textured piece designed to bring a sense of curiosity and modern naturalism to a sophisticated interior.
