About this artwork
In this work, I seek to capture the moment when creative energy emerges from the depths. The dark blue evokes the original water, the matrix of life. From the abstract chaos, a face emerges, almost hidden, like a spiritual presence in gestation. Each color has its voice: yellow and gold embody divine light, green breathes life, red imprints the vital breath, raw passion, and purple evokes the spiritual dimension.
The spatula, used with intensity,… gives the material a vibrant texture, reinforcing the idea of perpetual movement, of an invisible breath at work. I invite the viewer to dive into this composition as into an inner mirror, to feel the strength of the Spirit that still hovers over the waters of the soul.
Romeo De Meva, an Ivorian painter, has transformed his unusual career path into a remarkable artistic rise. A self-taught artist who rose to prominence during the pandemic, he adopts a vibrant abstract style blending spirituality, resilience, and symbolism. His works, charged with emotion and depth, have taken him from Abidjan to major international stages: Paris, Venice, Vienna, Munich, New York… In New York, he exhibits alongside Pablo Picasso, Henry Matisse, and Jon Miró. Founder of the Susanoo Foundation, he combines art and social impact through the MEV'ART 3.0 competition and solidarity projects. A multi-award-winning artist, he embodies a new generation of visionary, committed, and forward-looking African artists.
