About this artwork
In crafting this piece, I melded metal with hints of leather, honoring the assemblage style. My hands wove a tale of contrast and convergence: the timeless vigor of objects, merged into a sculpture pulsating with emotion. I sought to capture the intimate dance between strength, resilience, and the delicate essence of ephemerality. This artwork promises to infuse any space with a potent, thought-provoking presence, igniting conversations and introspective…
journeys.

« My sculptures explore the emotive, social, and psychological associations of decaying, found objects that function as autobiographical metaphors. »
Ronald Gonzalez is a contemporary, figurative artist based in upstate New York. Since the mid seventies, Gonzalez has created elegiac sculptures and installations that evoke death and loss infused with grotesque narratives. Gonzalez works primarily with steel armatures, time worn objects, and detritus collected from his surroundings. The work is developed with metal filings, burned wax, glue, wire, and black soot creating a dramatic, tonal range that both obscures and reveals his anthropomorphic heads, torsos and figures imbued with a sense of primal energy.
