About this artwork
In creating this piece, I've woven together the raw textures of metal and leather to craft a sculpture that embodies resilience and the complexities of the human spirit. The assemblage style allowed me to layer materials, giving rise to a tactile narrative that speaks to our ability to hold together despite life's pressures. This artwork is more than an object; it's an emotive presence that breathes a bold energy into any space, inspiring strength…
and contemplation.

« My sculptures explore the emotive, social, and psychological associations of decaying, found objects that function as autobiographical metaphors. »
Ronald Gonzalez is a contemporary, figurative artist based in upstate New York. Since the mid seventies, Gonzalez has created elegiac sculptures and installations that evoke death and loss infused with grotesque narratives. Gonzalez works primarily with steel armatures, time worn objects, and detritus collected from his surroundings. The work is developed with metal filings, burned wax, glue, wire, and black soot creating a dramatic, tonal range that both obscures and reveals his anthropomorphic heads, torsos and figures imbued with a sense of primal energy.
