About this artwork
In the distance you can see an old lighthouse, which remains stoic on a mixture of warm colors like a wave of lava. Below is a group of manta rays, flying near a structure that appears to be a ruin or a door from another world or from another time.
This painting was made in two stages, the first corresponds to a moment of expression and use of the Fluid Art technique using acrylic paints. The second stage requires contemplation and the discovery… of what the first stage meant to the artist, so he, with oil paintings, integrates figures and characters that transform what was an abstract work into a story to tell or interpret.

« I use the medium of painting to create visual representations of subjective and objective interpretations of reality that reflect both personal and universal experiences. »
Roque Reyes is an experienced Mexican artist with international exposure. His paintings can be divided into two main themes: the first being the realistic representation of his culture- he is Oaxacan of Zapotec origin- and the second a surrealist, dreamlike style. Shifting between the personal and the universal, Reyes reflects the confusion, chaos and beauty of the human experience.
