About this artwork
This work belongs to the series 1492, year of the supposed discovery of America.
It is a variation inspired by the series "The garden of the roses" where the symbolism of the garden as the abode of the soul is amalgamated with that of fragile and fleeting rose, creating a new version of the vanitas of yesteryear.
More information about "The garden of roses" in:

In "1492" the white roses allude to the innocence and purity of spirit of the conquered that in the work are blurred as if vanishing in the air, the black ones to a bad omen, the augury of an extermination, and the masts of the caravels they metamorphose into spears that generate the bleeding of America.
« Nature inspires me to be able to transmit a message, to share a feeling even with those who speak another language. »
