Solemnity I 2018/22
Pictosculpture in enamels, native copper, minerals, metals, 24 kt gold on wood
Solemnity is divine creation in motion. The choice of pure gold as a divine representation is a constant in my creations due to its unique and timeless properties. My vision is that everything in the world is also present in other dimensions. For me, love is represented by gold as a divine manifestation, an aspect of love transmuted into matter in… this dimension.
My creations are meditative pieces imbued with a cryptic quality. The three-dimensionality draws the viewer in, engaging them to touch and caress the work, feeling its spiritual energy—a subtle energy that draws them into the work, sensing its universal breath. Through an alchemical transmutation, the viewer will then discover their own personal interpretation.
The exclusive technique created by myself and the precious materials make each work unique and rare.
Rossella Faraone (Rome, 1969), an eclectic artist, sculptor, painter, designer, and fine jewelry designer, demonstrated an innate talent for drawing and painting from an early age. After graduating as a Master of Arts and training at the Academy, she opened her own studio and artistic foundry in 1990. She creates a unique, three-dimensional, and textured technique that has been imitated worldwide. She combines painting and sculpture using enamels, gems, and precious metals to create her "pittosculture" (a term she coined). With an artistic career spanning over 35 years, she loves to retreat to her studio, striving for perfection and elegance with her unmistakable style. Each piece is handmade. Her work is included in public and private collections. “She had the strength, the talent, and the indispensable qualities to transform these precious stones and metals, through the exercise of her will, into “pigments” for a genre of painting that can seem like a real gamble, a kind of challenge.” – Gérard George Lemaire.
