I assigned the outline of a randomly chosen Greek statue of Demeter (goddess of fertility, agriculture, and the harvest) and placed it as if it were overseeing a bay and the outline of a city. It is outlined with thick charcoal lines and shows a missing left arm. One could interpret this as a gesture of her limited power, if one wishes. Roxane Legenstein's distinctive works explore how the structures in and around us restrict and define our perception of reality. In her artistic practice, she relays narratives through the use of a variety of materials, reflecting a certain timelessness of nature and its forms through colors.
