About this artwork
“Holiday” is about unhappy contingencies, when joyful expectations become worst case scenarios. A man with two children are on a boat, they are heading straight into an unseen (for them) menacing threat.
This piece is composed of two unequal sized linen canvases. The larger panel on the left is sized 46 x 33 cm and the smaller panel on the upper right is 24 x 16 cm. The missing “broken corner,” as if chewed off by a beast, has a presence in its… complete absence.
