About this artwork
I made this painting after returning from a trip to Tanzania. Connecting with the people and the culture there in the the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro left me enchanted. In this painting I tried to express that sense of something ancient and legendary, a rich new world to explore. The limited pallet lends the work a feeling of myth meeting reality.
