About this artwork
I created this painting back in 2015. Back then I was inspired by comic books from my childhood. I used debris from multiple books in order to create my own composition. The black lagoon monster is based on folklore, or an urban legend, that I've heard as a child. Try to remember a story you've heard as a child that made you a little scared. I decided to make this painting to recreate the environment where this monster could inhabit, but in a nice… colorful environment, as opposed to a scary one that a child could think of.
« "I use comic book images and adapt, combine, destroy, recombine, and layer them into completely new and energized compositions." »
