About this artwork
This painting ironically addresses the dreams of people who have a huge penchant for sweets. The woman who fell asleep in the sweet raspberry believes she has found her "happiness" because she believes her "dream" is a combination of a chocolate-covered biscuit topped with a heavenly raspberry. Unfortunately, she hardly notices that her "dream" is slowly consuming her until it swallows her whole.
In this work I used the rich textures of acrylic… and oil to create a surreal yet realistic image. The subject, a giant cake with a small sleeping figure leaning against a juicy raspberry blanket, symbolizes the sweetness and sometimes the lushness of life. This painting is an invitation to lose yourself in the sweet dreams of tranquility, an energetic sanctuary in any room.
