About this artwork
In this painting of mistletoe I used a rich background of a washed out red and metallic gold acrylic paint to create a textured, warm background that evokes a feeling of hope and connection which contrasts against the vibrant green of the leaves and the white of the berries. I poured raw emotion using bold acrylic strokes, capturing the energy and mystery of nature’s fleeting moments. This work invites you into the winter season and adds a spirited,…
dynamic vibe to any space it inhabits. It’s a celebration of imperfect beauty and the magic found in simplicity.

Rooted in colour, nature, and a deeply personal way of seeing and working primarily in acrylics and known for her expressive triadic palettes, Ruth brings florals, animals, and landscapes to life through bold chromatic contrasts, layered techniques, and a fluid blend of fauvism and expressionism. As a physically disabled and neurodiverse (dyslexic) artist, she credits her unique cognitive perspective for sharpening her intuition, enriching her sense of connection to the natural world, and amplifying the emotional depth of her work. Her paintings capture more than what is seen; they reveal what is felt. Ruth reminds us that colour can shift emotion, that form can hold memory, and that art can act as a bridge between the seen world and the inner life.
