Four days after my arrival in Chile, to meet my mother's country, I set off to discover Santiago, the capital. There, the art of the circus is everywhere: at traffic lights, in traffic jams, along the main avenues.
On the way back, I came across this scene: a young acrobat trying her best to attract the attention of drivers. I set up my camera for fifteen minutes in the darkness, waiting for the right moment to photograph… her. I felt like a wildlife photographer observing the courtship display of a bird of paradise.
I photographed it three times, with my film camera which struggled in the lack of light. Here is one.
"La llamada" means the call.
The acrobat was calling for the vehicles.
The moon was calling the acrobat.
Sébastien Printant, a photographer and sculptor with a background in cinema, explores the image through analog photography, drawing, modeling, and wall sculpture. His graphic style combines balance, inner movement, and a tension between gentleness and intensity: light, color, and texture breathe life into his works. He aims to reveal the essence of humanity, the living, bringing each viewer back to a raw and universal sensation, a sincere, instinctive, and deeply shared emotion.
