About this artwork
"Cepheus" is an artwork about orientation in the night. The constellation after which it is named is located near Polaris, the North Star, and never sets – it is always there, even when you are not consciously looking for it. For centuries, seafarers have used this part of the sky for navigation.
In the artwork, light from a deep, indigo-blue sky falls onto the water, as if the starry sky were reflected in the sea. A thin line glows on the horizon… – like a distant shore or the first glimmer of a new day.
For me, this unique piece is about constancy: about that which gives us support and shows us the way, even in dark moments. The darkness here is not threatening, but vast and calm – a space in which one can truly see the light.
