About this artwork
This piece is made with oil paint and charcoal created from Mormon hymn books. The meditative design is inspired by Islamic ceramics. Kerr jars (jam jars) and measuring spoons were used as templates for the charcoal grid. These are tools reminiscent of the artist's Mormon childhood. The painting radiates a calmness reminiscent of Agnes Martin. This piece is on oil primed linen, gallery wrapped around heavy duty stretcher bars.
