This is a nocturnal landscape. The starry sky is echoed in the river and appears to flow into the viewer's space. The landscape is painterly with intentional brush strokes built up in several thin layers. The painting intersperses long lines with large areas of color and small jewelled accents. Although the landscape is figurative, it also employs elements of abstraction.
