This modernist stripe grid is made with oil paint and two types of charcoal. The artist created charcoal from a Vladimir Putin calendar (from Russia) and from Trump’s "Art of the Deal" book. The charcoal creates the impression of copper and ashen prison bars. These charcoals are applied over zen like stripes of creamy white and dusty peach. These elements bring to mind Agnes Martin. is very calm and meditative. A stripe of gold leaf reminds us of the Kremlin and the Trump Hotels. "Witch Hunt" was one of Trump's favorite terms. Yet this painting turns the term on it's head, insinuating that Trump (or Putin) may be the ones who end up behind bars.
