About this artwork
This artwork displays an earthworm in a move on a violin. The worm has a shape of the hat worn by the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and symbolises his approach-ability, hard-working, down-to-earth and caring attitude of the leader of the French Army. Therefore, this work is dedicated to these vital attributes of every leader. It emphasises the importance to remember that we may not go down the history pages as historical figures, but in our own…
way we play a role of a leader whether in our families, households, community or political arena, and these are the qualities that we want to have and display as great leader.
Samvel Budaghyan
Armenia
« Nature is the biggest sculptor, all I do is continue nature’s work and transform the fallen trees into art to deliver important messages to the world. »
Samvel Budaghyan is a sculptor based in Armenia whose works have been exhibited both nationally and in Canada. For him, the forest is a sacred place. He is inspired by trees, which he views as living and breathing creatures, to create meaningful pieces of art. Budaghyan works solely using the wood of fallen trees, giving them a second life, where they are "reborn into abstract and surreal sculptures that carry important messages to the world".
