About this artwork
The picture, applied with simple colored pencils, appears gentle, almost childlike at first glance – but the layers of color and forms reveal a psychological depth that lingers. The traces of the colored pencils are visible, deliberately imperfect – a sign of authenticity, of craftsmanship, of lived emotion. It is a work that doesn't scream loudly, but rather quietly glows.
At the center of the painting is a luminous sphere, neither sun nor planet,… but rather a floating inner space. From it, fine lines—energy—radiate in all directions. This energy seems unconsumed. It is never lost, but transforms, flows on, and connects everything together. The image's magical effect isn't due to a magic wand or mythical creatures, but rather due to the tangible invisible—through warmth, direction, presence.
The basic human needs are arranged in symbolic scenes around the sphere.
Orientation, control, pleasure, bonding and increased self-esteem.
Sandra Haase uses standard colored pencils on white cardboard and incorporates her background in personal development into her surreal paintings. She works with colorful, profound, and multi-layered compositions in which dream worlds and reality merge; her style invites individual interpretation. With her works, she aims to convey wisdom, peace, and moments of inner calm, inviting the viewer on an inward journey.
