About this artwork
We are currently living in an era in which technology and globalization are creating closer connections between people than ever before. Ironically, however, as we become more interconnected, genuine social bonds seem to be withering away. Rising individualism is reaching worrying levels and hindering the collective search for solutions to global challenges.
A functioning community is based on the pillars of respect, tolerance and the appreciation… of diversity. When we see ourselves as part of a larger whole, an atmosphere is created in which mutual recognition and support can flourish. Space is created for creativity and innovation. Different perspectives generate new ideas and approaches to solutions.
"More Us" is a call for solidarity and responsibility as global citizens to find solutions together that overcome all our boundaries and strengthen our society.

- Works on commission
Sandra Plaar, a former teacher and art therapist, finds her inner home in mixed media techniques and encaustic. Her experimental style explores boundaries and uses a variety of methods, giving a lot of space to intuition and impulses. Her art addresses the acceleration of the modern world and the need for inner reflection. Her lively and multi-layered works reflect the process of becoming and passing away, symbolized by cracks and structures. The works of art radiate inner strength and longing and invite the viewer to become aware of their own power and to embark on a search for personal freedom.
