About this artwork
Soft Surrender — Inner States
In this state, nothing needs to be held together anymore.
No resistance, no striving—only a quiet trust in what already is.
The eyes close, not to withdraw, but to return inward.
And in that stillness, something soft begins to emerge.
A smile, unforced.
A presence, carried from within.
This is not giving up.
This is allowing.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Sandra ter Horst, a contemporary visual artist with a background in coaching, channels her life lessons into layered acrylic and oil portraits that transcend traditional likeness. She employs intuitive, loose brushstrokes, letting areas dissolve and sharpen to balance raw emotion with refinement; colors and light radiate from within her figures, accentuating psychological depth. Her intimately powerful paintings convey the tension between strength and vulnerability, inviting the viewer into spaces of stillness, authenticity, and self-recognition.
