About this artwork
It is autumn here in Kent, and Sandy is working to the accompaniment of birdsong.
This tiny landscape painting is inspired by the richness of autumn blues, browns, purples, rain and cooling temperatures. Sandy loves to be outside and her paintings reflects her experiences.
Building up many layers of colour, using top quality Golden paints and spattering, using brushes, rags and palette knives to create a rich and textured surface with tonal depth… is Sandy's aim. Her canvas is worked both on the ground and on an easel - this allows her to add layers of watercolor like painting without it all dripping to the bottom the canvas! When on the easel in the last stages, she is able to stand back and look, she spends more time looking than working at this stage and tries to asses balance, colour and overall feel.
This 30x30cm painting in unframed. It has white painted edges and is strung with picture cord ready to hang.
