« Art makes things beautiful when we need a form of pictorial escapism. Art makes things digestible when we need to address things that escapism doesn’t solve. »
Sarah Ernst is a prize-winning American artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Her abstract and figurative abstractions are created using differing artistic approaches. In Ernst's abstract color compositions, she paints in an unpremeditated manner, playing with elements on canvas until it starts to form its own identity. In her other works, she explores cultural iconography by investigating its sources or by collapsing it with unexpected contexts in order to initiate questioning.
