About this artwork
This piece is made using a synthetic ochre, Translucent Orange, which is an iron oxide. The title comes from the nature of the pigment, and from the idea of tracing ideas through history using material evidence, which is at the heart of my practice. The composition is simple and yet offers itself up for interpretation of space in a number of ways, just like material evidence in an archeological dig.
