About this artwork
Made using indigo in oil based media, this piece both plays with the sensation of nightfall at sea, and is made of materials that trace their roots to the cargos of ships that were captured by privateers during the Anglo-Dutch wars in the 1700s. These were indigos being imported to Europe as part of the slave trade. All my work contains traces of human interconnection, from the wonderful to the terrible.
