About this artwork
Hi there! I’d love to share a new piece I’ve just finished — one that feels truly special to me. I painted it right after my first-ever ascent of Mount Elbrus — and actually, my first ascent of any mountain in my life. Before this trip, I didn’t really understand what mountains were all about, what climbing meant, or why people are drawn to them. I just wanted a break. To escape the rush, to unplug from the overwhelming pace of city life where everything…

When I arrived, everything felt light and joyful — fresh air, hiking, stunning views. Pure euphoria. But the higher we climbed, the tougher the routes became — and that’s when I started to realize: this wasn’t just a beautiful walk. It was a journey inward. At one point, our guide said something that stuck with me: “The higher you climb, the louder the mountain will ask you: why are you here?” At first, I thought it was just a poetic metaphor.
