Soms is er zo’n blik tussen vrouwen. Zacht, krachtig, zonder woorden. Je hoeft niks uit te leggen. Je voelt: jij snapt het.
The Space We Hold gaat over die ruimte. De ruimte die we voor elkaar maken. Waar we mogen landen, lachen, leunen. Waar we elkaar optillen als het even zwaar is, en vieren als het licht mag zijn.
Ik denk vaak aan hoe bijzonder het is om vrouw te zijn in deze wereld. Hoeveel we dragen. Hoeveel we delen. Hoeveel we soms verzwijgen.… En hoe helend het is als je iemand tegenover je hebt die zegt, met een blik, een hand, een aanwezigheid, “ik zie je.”
Dit werk is geen uitleg, geen verhaal in beelden. Het is een gevoel. Een fluistering. Een herinnering aan hoe krachtig het is als we elkaar écht vasthouden . Niet letterlijk, maar in aandacht, in zachtheid, in ruimte.
