About this artwork
"Bois de Rose"- is a monochromatic modern wall sculpture made from latex, MDF, acrylic, Indonesian Rosewood and Ebony wood. It is finished with satin lacquer. "Bois de Rose" refers to the beautiful bright purple wood on both flanks of the piece (French for Rose Wood). The piece is at once modern and organic, as the exotic woods pull the piece back from being too cold or minimalist. The white paint is build up in layers and the satin lacquer provides…
a thick topcoat which allows fo a certain translucent glow from the surface, which has been slightly distressed. The combination of sleek lines and organic wood grain provides an elegant yet bold statement piece for any room.

« I am a wood sculpture artist obsessed with form, balance, and composition in a formalist and modernist manner, working predominately with wood as a medium. »
Scott Troxel is an award-winning American artist whose pieces have been exhibited in both solo and group events nationally. Though he describes his art as non-objective, it explores concepts relating to age and time. In addition, the idea of futurism, mid-century modernism, Art Deco, and timeless aesthetics, all find a place within Troxel's work. He employs both new and repurposed materials, as well as man-made mediums such as plastic, combined with century-old wood.
