About this artwork
Shimmering clouds brood across an otherworldly sky, their undersides braided with filaments of prismatic light. From this celestial canopy descend many-hued, iridescent squares—miniature panes of color that fall like rain but hold the weightless intent of icons. Each square carries a subtle texture—like glossy reflective metal—so that together they form a cohesive tapestry of hue in motion.
Light refracts over the squares, color palettes shift across… the composition: iridescent highlights that suggest an internal glow within some of the pieces. In the background fractured halos scatter across the scene. Mechanical rendered organic, the discrete units forming a collective atmosphere. Cubik Rayn balances serenity and motion.
Features: Museum Glass; Figured Walnut Frame; Brass tag with title, date, serial number and artists signature on back panel; Structural elements contain specialty pigments that shift color dependent on the viewing angle; Resin, Colored Sand, Metal Flakes.
Scott Williams is a sculptor whose mastery in wood, resin, metal, and glass reflects a lifelong dedication to craft and technological innovation. His eclectic style fuses layered mediums in interactive light sculptures and intricate forms, blending realism and abstraction through the interplay of light, texture, and color. Each piece radiates an ethereal presence, inspiring reflection and evoking a profound sense of connection with nature and human experience.
Available for commissions for NatureView® and WorldView® lightboxes, abstract wall hangings, wood turned bowls, vases, or hollowforms; and sculptures. Meticulously crafted, each piece is imbued with artistry and precision, and tells a unique story.
All the woods are locally sourced from either distressed timber from self-fallen trees or harvested from diseased trees that would otherwise go to waste, and the lumber is up-cycled, recycled or reclaimed boards. I also follow the NO-WASTE WOODWORKING® philosophy.
