About this artwork
Secil Erel made this series of work in an artist residency in very nice part of Aegean Sea in Ayvalık/ Turkey. She inspired by the lights and energy of the environment for her colours and layers and able to focus her personal research for her art via possibilities to using the modular units.
She exhibited and sold some of those in Düsseldorf and NewYork.

Seçil Erel is a UK-based Turkish artist who looks to explore how mathematics and architectural influences can intersect with the visual arts. The interesting mixture of having a scientific background and a creative drive is articulated within Erel’s work. Whilst her paintings are based on modularity and perceived systematic structure, visible in their metronomic repetition, vibrant colors, movement and abstract forms add a distinctively playful, emotional and spiritual depth to Erel’s work.
