About this artwork
This painting shows the problem of virtual reality. More and more people are substituting live communication with a virtual one. They enter their comfort zone and become deprived of the emotions evoked by live interaction.
The painting depicts mirrors levitating above water, which reflect planets, but the colors of the reflections are inverted. This shows that sometimes people see each other through different lenses. There are misunderstandings… occurring between them, partially because of the virtual nature of this world and partially because they see each other “in the wrong colors”.
I combined realism and abstract art as two opposing styles, which got blended on this canvas against the laws of painting. This is also a symbol of confusion and full clarity of what’s happening, at the same time.
The purpose was to create a slightly gloomy atmosphere in which the events happen on a distant planet flooded by a constant downpour of water.
