About this artwork
Jump and skip … this painting was inspired by a memory of my childhood . I grew up in an idyllic environment , the beach was our backyard and we lived on an old farm .. surrounded by countryside , but not many neighbors . So along with my siblings , when we was not at school , our own entertainment was either playing at being pirates on the beach searching for lost treasure or playing games individually , skipping ropes were always great , I learnt… to run while skipping or just jump and swing the the rope over my head . It felt like there was no effort to endlessly play , it was a beautiful feeling . The painting I hope will lift your spirits , as it did mine to paint. The painting is not framed , but it is ready to hang in your home .
Sharon Champion, a painter trained at Hastings College of Art and a seasoned studio artist since 1984, skillfully melds oil and acrylic to explore themes rooted in women, family memories, and her vibrant imagination. Her figurative and impressionistic portraits often feature subtle animal presences, nuanced by gentle humor and empathy for everyday moments. Through her layered techniques, she conjures a soulful nostalgia, inviting viewers to connect with half-remembered worlds and shared human experience.
