About this artwork
In my artwork, I embraced the essence of tradition and identity through a striking head-dressed figure. My oil paints brought to life rich textures, vibrant colors, and meticulous details, portraying a deeply rooted cultural heritage. A study of the glint of metal and a portrait exercise, based on an old photo of a friend wearing a Turkmen head-dress. With each stroke, I aimed to capture the subject's serene pride, infusing my work with a soulful…
realism. It's a celebration of history, a reverent nod to the enduring spirit of human expression.

« "As an adventurous sort, I believe that I can take on any creative project. If it does not come easily, then I strive to learn." »
As a painter, draftsman, designer and photographer, Shaun Herron’s need to create overrides expectation. The artist, who hails from Cape Town, but has resided for many years in Amsterdam, has received several awards for his pieces. Though he describes himself as a traditional artist who works in old-fashioned mediums, his art shows the diversity of his style and varies from esoteric, surrealist, impressionist and abstract. He finds freedom in abstract paintings, while also enjoying the meticulous attention to detail in his realistic depictions. Herron creates using oils and pencil.
