My take on the much-painted Montelbaanstoren; built in 1516 as part of the Walls of Amsterdam for the purpose of defending the city and the harbour. I've captured the vibrant essence of a bustling waterside, infused with the dynamism of life and the tranquility of nature coexisting. I employed a fervent play of oil colors, and my strokes carry the weight of emotions, embracing impressionism to evoke a sense of movement and liveliness. It's an artwork…

As a painter, draftsman, designer and photographer, Shaun Herron’s need to create overrides expectation. The artist, who hails from Cape Town, but has resided for many years in Amsterdam, has received several awards for his pieces. Though he describes himself as a traditional artist who works in old-fashioned mediums, his art shows the diversity of his style and varies from esoteric, surrealist, impressionist and abstract. He finds freedom in abstract paintings, while also enjoying the meticulous attention to detail in his realistic depictions. Herron creates using oils and pencil.
