I was definitely in the flow when I was working on this piece. The term “flow” was first coined by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in his seminal book “Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience,” published in 1990. In it, he describes flow as a state of complete absorption in an activity, where a person is entirely focused, energized, and deeply engaged in the present… moment.
Sheila Lemons, a globally influenced artist and San Francisco Art Institute graduate, expresses herself through painting and photography. She writes: "Classic, uncluttered designs with an easy grace are what are appeal to me now. I think Abstract Expressionism served a wonderful purpose as the foundation of our current version of Modernism, but was actually just the starting point for a more enlarged view of what is possible with artistic expression."
Her work, guided by authenticity, is a beacon in the vast forest of societal norms, challenging viewers' perceptions and encouraging a greater understanding of our human lives.
