Fairey's market runs from unique collages to widely available prints, with the hand-painted multiple bridging the two. His original mixed-media works, meaning stencil, silkscreen and collage on canvas or wood panel, are unique, and his HPMs (hand-painted multiples) start from a shared silkscreen base but are individually finished, so each is effectively one-of-a-kind; for both, gallery documentation, exhibition history and condition anchor the purchase. His standard prints are screenprints on heavy cream Speckletone paper, signed "Shepard Fairey" in pencil along the lower edge, hand-numbered and often carrying the OBEY publishing chop. The strongest provenance comes from works bought through the OBEY Giant store or authorised galleries. His most famous image shows why medium literacy matters: the 2008 Obama Hope exists as signed limited-edition screenprints and as mass-produced, unsigned campaign posters worth a small fraction as much.
