About this artwork
In composing A Delicate Force, I used an amalgamation of images to create a figure that embodied the complete freedom and strength. The sun rests on her face and shoulder and the wind blows her hair. I chose a soft palette and I used graphic elements that alternate between the foreground and background to keep a sense of abstraction in the piece. I primarily used pouring medium instead of brushes and spray paint and graphite.

U.S. painter Sheryl Daane has a degree in printmaking, but has more recently moved to more abstract and figurative work. Inspired by nature, Daane hopes to shine a light on the fragility of the earth by showing the beauty in its details. Daane's experimental process involves using polymers and metals with oil and acrylic paint. With rough strokes and blocks of color, Daane's paintings are elemental and expressive.
