ShinYoung An is an award-winning painter who seeks to find the truth in the human form and translate that into her own vision of natural beauty. She also depicts current stories in the news that touch her, portraying these events, and her reactions to them, through the visual interaction of hands, feet, and portraits painted against a backdrop of newspaper clippings. An employs oils and three layers of gesso, which preserves newspapers from fading.
