About this artwork
This piece is my way of capturing the kind of strength that feels both fierce and deeply human. I wanted this lion to feel alive — not just as an animal, but as a symbol of the fire, courage, and resilience we all carry. The bold colors came naturally as I painted; each layer felt like an emotion taking shape… the heat of determination, the coolness of clarity, and the energy that rises when you finally trust your own voice.
As I worked on it, I… found myself focusing on the eyes. There’s intensity there, but also calm — the kind of look someone has when they’ve been through something, learned from it, and come out sharper and more grounded. In a way, this lion reflects the moments in my own life where I had to push through fear and step into who I’m becoming as an artist.
My hope is that viewers feel that same strength when they look at it — like it’s a reminder to stay bold, stay vibrant, and lead with a quiet confidence that doesn’t need an explanation.
