About this artwork
This three-part work was created with leftover paint from a painting course in Italy.
The upper and lower images show a clear basic order; earthy olive green, greenish and translucent light blue are reminiscent of the land and lakes of the Umbrian landscape with a warning, fluorescent red.
In this uniformity of apparent calm, the middle image seems like a disruptive factor due to its chaotic appearance. The red has dissolved into isolated patches… on amorphous, relief-like accumulations of color.
As in a sonata, the intellectual movement (con moto) occurs in the changing relationship between the upper and lower color areas.

Siegfried Bausch, a versatile artist, moves between painting and sculpture, his roots lie in mathematics and civil engineering. Using acrylic paints, he uses gestural abstraction and geometric precision, which create an effective contrast. With the help of his art, he expresses the contradictions between idealized social ideas and experienced reality. His abstract works encourage the viewer to explore personally and reflect emotionally.
