About this artwork
The Zantedeschia (Zantedeschia) are the only plant genus of the tribe Zantedeschieae in the Araceae family.
Calla, kalla or, rarely, calla lilies are used as common names for four of the eight Zantedeschia species, but they should not be confused with lilies or plant species of the genus Calla. Some species and varieties are rare houseplants. The name Calla is derived from the ancient Greek word καλός kalós and means "beautiful". Mythological namesake… cousins are the nymph Callisto and the muse of poetry and science Calliope. Due to its special flower shape, which is reminiscent of a chalice, the Greeks and Romans associated it with celebrations and joy. The zantedeschia is therefore still considered a lucky charm in many areas.

Sigrid Koerner
Germany
« A painter can turn the sun into a yellow spot, but thanks to their art and intelligence, they can also conjure up a sun from a yellow spot. »
Sigrid Koerner is an experienced artist based in Germany whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally and in France. She cites her educational background in natural sciences as having made her sensitive towards nature, its laws and creativity, which uses simple principles to produce diversity, opulence and abundance. For Koerner, plants and flowers are expressions of human emotions, as well as symbols of life and proof of love, "a maximum of beauty and perfection".
