Silke von Clarmann is a freelance artist who studied art history and business administration. For more than 20 years, she has been intensively involved with painting, developing a distinctive visual language that lies between figuration and abstraction.
The focus of her work is humanity – with its flaws, vulnerabilities, and everything that lies beneath the surface. Particularly in her portraits of women, she combines meticulously crafted elements with open, sketchy, and intuitive sections. Her abstract works also emerge from this tension between control and letting go.
She works with acrylics, oils, ink, charcoal, chalk, bitumen, and texture-forming materials. Her art is not meant to be perfect or merely decorative. It is intended to evoke emotion, raise questions, and leave room for personal feelings.
