About this artwork
This artwork was created by a combination of acrylic painting and partial collage (parts of textile and paper) which gave an interesting contrast of textures. . In my work, I primarily expresses myself with gestures and textures provided by certain materials. I explore different materials whose textures form part of the painting and thus creates a whole of specific poetics. My great love is working on different materials and different techniques… but always emphasizing gesture, marks and of course, color. I felt that through this kind of labor, I could speak some kind of truth about who I was as an artist and person.
Silvana Konjevoda is a Croatian painter and sculptor with a Master of Fine Arts, specializing in watercolor, mixed media, and three-dimensional objects. She masterfully integrates traditional and unconventional materials—such as plastic, leather, and textiles—emphasizing texture, gesture, and color through both figurative and abstract approaches. Her contemplative artworks evoke a profound emotional connection to nature, exploring themes of transformation, ecology, and the enduring relationship between humanity and the materials of everyday life.
I graduated in Graphics in the class of prof. Josip Butković in 1990 and obtained the title of Master of Fine Arts at The Faculty of Pedagogy in Rijeka, Croatia .
